As a part of Case Study 4, Kangsabati River Basin, a part of Lower Ganga Basin, workshops were conducted at different locations involving stakeholders from different sectors during March and April 2011. Workshops involved government officials, academicians, agriculture scientists from district farmer organizations (KVK - Krishi Vigyan Kendra) and individual farmers, both men and women.
The objectives of the workshops was to determine both vulnerability of the region to impending climate change and possible adaptation measures as suggested by the stakeholders. A focused group discussion method; problem and solution web, was opted for to interact with the stakeholders and elicit responses from them. The local language; Bangla, was used to interact with the local farmers to involve them in a better manner. Based on their experience, different stakeholders suggested varied adaptation measures to counter current and future climatic, hydrological and agricultural issues posed by climate change.
